Pete Club

This year I am part of the pete club which only costs 5 dollars. For the benefits this brings that is not a bad price at all. I get to participate in the state convention this year which is a great experience to have. I'm not quite sure exactly what SRU students get to do there yet. If anyone has already went to the state convention please let me know what goes on there. I would believe there to be many stands on health issues and issues that physical education teachers have to deal with. I can't wait to go and get involved with the program. I may even try to run for president or vice, or maybe the secretary of pete club for next year.

Technology

I have many likes and dislikes about technology. My favorite piece of technology is my Ipod. I use it everywhere I go. My CD player in my care has a chord that has been drilled into my glove compartment that connects to my Ipod so I can listen to all my downloaded music in the car. I also use it at the gym and when I go jogging. Now when I go to the beach I do not have to drag along a boom box because I got my pocket sized Ipod that holds thousands of songs and it's great. On the other hand I do not like cell phones all that much. Don't get me wrong I have one and I could not go without it now. That is what I hate about it though. Plus everyone expects you to answer all the time because they know you have your phone on you. Oh yea texting has taken over the world. Everyone is so busy in their own world texting now that no one lives the life that is going on around them. People used to talk to each other meet new friends all the time. Now when you are in the hall way going to class or at the bar it seems like everyone is looking down staring into their phones instead of socializing with their surrounding people.

Outdoor Pursuits Hiking and Camping Trip

This Saturday I went a hiking trip to the Allegheny National Forest with Professor Smith and the class. I had a blast the entire time. The only complaint I have is the gnats. Everyone was breathing them in and getting them in their eyes. The hike was a fun adventure, the camp fire games were a blast, and eating food cooked over a camp fire was delicious. I learned a lot of useful tips for hiking and camping on this trip. Learning how pack, how to make the stream water drinkable, and putting the food in a tree so bears won't get to it were the most interesting things I learned. I will definitely go on trips like this now because of this class and I hope others will too.

Employment after college in physical education.

So I have been informed that the physical education and health department here at Slippery Rock University has the highest enrollment out of all the majors. I want to know how many jobs are actually out there for these students when they graduate. Is there a place to look for the percentage of graduates that find employment right out of Slippery Rock University? I know that employment can depend on many aspects of a graduate but this is my main concern. I'm willing to work hard, put in the extra effort, even relocate, but are the jobs going to be there?
